Wildcats unable to catch Peters Twp in loss

The overcast that hung above Rossi Field set the stage for a tough game on May, 4th. The 4-7 Latrobe Boys Varsity Wildcats hosted the 11-2 Peters Twp Indians. After winning the first face-off, the Indians wasted no time in deciding who would be victorious and scored within the first 38 seconds in the game. Riley Grudi was the player credited with that goal, and would go on to score again later in the evening. The first quarter of regulation would come to a close with Peters Twp scoring a total of 6 goals and the Wildcats unable to shake the 0 on the scoreboard.

The second quarter was another grind for the Wildcats as they struggled to keep up with the pace set by Peters Twp. By the end of the second quarter of play, the Wildcats were down by 12 points and continued to be unable to get one past the Indians' defense. Understanably frustrated, the Wildcats went into halftime with their heads down, but seemed to find a new spark when they took the field in the third quarter.

Although unable to score any points in the third, the Wildcats seemed to adopt a new level of physicality to their scheme and it held Peters Twp to score only one more point. The Wildcat defense was helped by Cameron Rohrer between the pipes and the offense was boosted by a new face-off contender, Jack Stregis. The Wildcats were unable to muster any points out of the third quarter yet the fight was not over.

The fourth quarter saw Peters Twp score 2 more points, and the Wildcats were unable to shake the 0 they held since the first whistle. The score at the end of regulation was Peters Twp 15 - Greater Latrobe 0. The Wildcats drop to a record of 4-8, and the Indians jump to a record of 12-2. Greater Latrobe look to their next opponent on the schedule as they will travel to Fox Chapel and take on the Foxes in their own den. The Wildcats are not expected to play at Rossi Field again this season until their final game on May 12th, against the Plum Mustangs who, at the time of this post, are 1-9 on the season.
